Award Winning Readers!

What book will we read together?  Stay tuned at the end of January to see who wins this prestigious award.

This is not just a story time.  It is more of a books discussion group for young people.  We will enjoy reading the book together, but we will also focus on the artwork, talk about what we like about the book, and why we think the book was chosen to win an award.

After reading and discussing the book, we will do our own artwork and activities inspired by the book.

Did you know that the Caldecott Medal is one of the most prestigious awards for children's books?  It is awarded each winter to the illustrator of the "most distinguished American picture book for children" published in the preceding year.  The committee that awards the medal is made up of members of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), which is part of the American Library Association (ALA).
