"Do My Feelings Matter?" Teen Emotional and Social Well-Being.
Martin Library is hosting a series of Community Conversations meant to educate and raise awareness of sensitive issues with professionals, elected officials, and community members who care. We will launch our first conversation with multiple programs focused on teen mental health concerns.
The first in a series of Community Conversations, "Do My Feelings Matter?" Teen Emotional and Social Well-Being grapples with the expectations placed on teens and it's effect on their overall physical and emotional health. A panel discussion, including teens and community members, will address the risk factors and stereotypes teens face in their homes, schools and community.
Prior to the program, attendees will have the opportunity to view the Teen Art Exhibit, "Do My Feelings Matter?". Awards will be presented at the start of the event.
Local Teens will share their personal stories through poetry and spoken word.
Motivational Speaker, Jennifer Foxworthy will facilitate the converstaion with topics and questions raised by teens at leadership and studio sessions.
All teens in attendance will recieve a 'Wellness Kit' filled with reminders that their feelings do matter.
