Jean Craighead George, author of My Side of the Mountain, Julie of the Wolves, and a hundred other books about nature for children, spent her growing-up summers at her father’s boyhood home at Craighead Station outside of Boiling Springs. It was here that she started her writing career. 

The Craigheads were among the earliest settlers of the Cumberland Valley and she was a pioneer in her own right. Tom Benjey, author of Glorious Times: Adventures of the Craighead Naturalists, will present a program about this most interesting person on March 17.
