Event Details
On Friday, February 2, 2001, a fifty-five-year-old man entered the North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary School. Wielding a two-foot-long machete, he randomly attacked twenty-three Kindergarten children, their teacher, a third-grade teacher and the school principal, Norina Bentzel. Although Norina and some others sustained serious injuries, no one was killed. Norina and her staff courageously stopped the intruder. However, with tragedy comes a cost. Children and adults were scarred physically, cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually that day.
The Rotary Club of Eastern York County and Kreutz Creek Library are proud to host Norina at the library for a conversation around her newly released memoir, Glorious Sadness. Discover how she, her staff and parents helped the school children that day and onwards, and learn how everyone's healing journeys are challenging and diverse. Norina will sign copies of her book and will have her book available for purchase.
