Most people might think that carnivorous plants only grow in exotic, steamy, tropical jungles, but would you be surprised to know that these plants grow in a variety of environments and making them an addition to your landscape or garden is possible even here in Pennsylvania?
Carnivorous plants are different than other flowering plants because they supplement their nutritional needs by trapping, killing, and digesting insects. Anthony Balestrini, our speaker for the November Third Wednesday Series of community programs has an interesting story about how he became interested in carnivorous plants and how he has created a backyard nursery to nurture them. Some history related to these plants and specific environmental factors required for their propagation will be included in the presentation.
