York Author Fest at Martin Library on September 21, 2024, 10am-1pm

The York Author Fest will highlight the intellectual and creative accomplishments of writers in the York City and York County area while nurturing the pursuit of the writing arts. The fest will showcase 20+ local authors and poets, both traditional and self-published, as well as local publishers, bookstores, and writing groups.

Fest Schedule

10:00am: Library doors open

10:00am-1:00pm: Author Tables

  • Visit author tables for meet-and-greets, book signings, connections, and more!
  • Location: Quiet Reading Room and Atrium (1st floor)

10:15am: Featured Authors

  • Presentations from our Featured Authors Brian Keene, Lindsay Hameroff, and Sandra L. Kearse-Stockton
  • Location: Teens (2nd floor)

11:15-1:00pm: Author Readings

  • Get a taste of an author's style at the brief author readings on the 2nd floor

Featured Authors

Brian Keene

Brian Keene headshot

BRIAN KEENE is the author of over fifty books and three-hundred short stories, mostly in the horror, crime, fantasy, and non-fiction genres. They have been translated into over a dozen different languages and have won numerous awards. His 2003 novel, The Rising, is credited with inspiring pop culture’s recurrent interest in zombies. He has also written for such media properties as Doctor Who, Thor, Aliens, Harley Quinn, The X-Files, Doom Patrol, Justice League, Hellboy, Superman, and Masters of the Universe. He was the showrunner for Realm Media and Blackbox TV’s Silverwood: The Door.

Several of Keene’s novels and stories have been adapted for film, including Ghoul, The Naughty List, The Ties That Bind, and Fast Zombies Suck. Keene also served as Executive Producer for the feature length film I’m Dreaming of a White Doomsday. Keene’s work has been praised by The New York Times, The History Channel, The Howard Stern Show, CNN, The Huffington Post, Bleeding Cool, Publisher’s Weekly, Fangoria, Bloody Disgusting, and Rue Morgue.

From 2015 to 2020, he hosted the immensely popular The Horror Show with Brian Keene podcast. He also hosted (along with Christopher Golden) the long-running Defenders Dialogue podcast. Keene also serves on the Board of Directors for the Scares That Care 501c charity organization, and as a Trustee for the HWA (Horror Writers Association).

The father of two sons and stepfather to one daughter, Keene lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, author Mary SanGiovanni and several cats.

Linsday Hameroff

Lindsay Hameroff headshot

Lindsay Hameroff is a writer, humorist, and former English teacher raised in Baltimore, MD and based in Harrisburg, PA. Her writing has been featured in McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Belladonna, Weekly Humorist, The Daily Drunk’s celebrity humor column, and other outlets. She also co-edits Frazzled, a parenting humor site. Till There Was You, publishing in 2024 from St. Martin’s Press, is her first novel. Her second novel, Never Planned on You, will be out in 2025.

Sandra L. Kearse-Stockton

Sandra hails from York, Pennsylvania and is the author of the trilogy 480 Codorus Street: Surviving Unpredicatability, Trials and Tribulations, and Endurance. he 480 Codorus Street Book Trilogy covers her most challenging years from 1969 to 1988. Sandra's continued ability to survive unpredictability is her truth. This is a true mental collage of a 19-year-old widowed black girl with four children, finding her way through life's twists and turns. Sandra opens up the doorway to her life for all to see and learn with hopes that her story will encourage others to continue to meet and greet the challenges head-on and win. She hopes to influence her readers to participate in their success stories. Sandra is interactive on many social media platforms and is listed on search engines including but not limited to Google. This trilogy speaks to the trials and tribulations of making a blended family survive. Her message evokes pleasant and unpleasant memories you will feel in her words. She will encourage you to find your voice as she did eventually. No more secrets! Speak!
