Program Description

Event Details

Mosquitoes Beware! During our February Garden Talk, Melanie will share the how-tos of creating our own "bat habitat" in even the smallest of backyard spaces. In return, these aerial acrobats will eat our unwanted yard and garden pests. A win-win relationship.

Waiting for dusk, the bats prepare for an eating frenzy. A single bat can eat hundreds to thousands of insects in an hour, with some species consuming their body weight in bugs nightly, saving farmers billions of dollars, ensuring backyard gardeners a plentiful yield of flowers and vegetables, and preventing outdoor enthusiasts from itchy, painful bug bites.

Join the Green Thumb Garden Club every 2nd Thursday at Kreutz Creek Library for a new garden talk. No RSVP necessary.
