Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a story time developed with support from early intervention therapists for those with sensory needs. In this inclusive environment, library staff work to provide routine, structure, and sensory experiences to meet the needs of the children and families that attend. This program encourages children to come as they are! Geared toward ages 2-5.

Registration is required! Limited to a maximum of 10 children.

You only need to register once for the entire 3-week series.  You will need to register separately for our November sessions.

Sensory Story Time FAQ:

  • Who can attend Sensory Story Time?

    • This story time is for children of all abilities ages 2-5 and an accompanying adult. These children may or may not have sensory needs. Everyone can benefit from sensory story time!

  • How is it different from regular story time?

    • In this inclusive space, therapists and library staff work to meet the needs of the children and families that attend. This program encourages children to come as they are! Visual schedules are used so children know what to expect. Therapists will be available to answer families’ questions. Special sensory toys or stations will be set up so play time will be built into the story time instead of afterwards.

  • Do we have to attend all sessions?

    • Yes, please plan on attending all 3 sessions when you register. If you’re unable to make a session, please give us a head’s up via phone or email.

  • Do I have to register?

    • Yes! This story time is limited to only 10 children. This smaller group allows more individual attention for each child.
