Woody Guthrie - July 9 at 6:30pm
Celebrate Woody Guthrie, arguably the most important and influential singer, writer, and purveyor of what he called "people's music," i.e., folk music, in U.S. history. Woody has profoundly influenced countless musicians including Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Tom Morello (of "Rage Against the Machine"), Johnny Cash, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, etc., etc., etc. Woody's most famous tune is "This Land is Your Land," but he wrote close to 3,000 songs. We can't sing all of them, but will sing some of the more famous songs, including "Union Maid," "Ludlow Massacre," "Jesus Christ," "Two Good Men (Sacco and Vanzetti)," "I've Got to Know," "Deportees," etc. Join us for songs and tales. All are welcome...singing along is encouraged! West Chester University professor (and guitarist and singer) Doug Morris, will share songs and stories. No registration is required for this event.
